One Kensington

Dec, 2013

One Kensington, west London’s most stylish and inviting new eating, drinking and socialising space, is now open.
Guests can drop in for any occasion, whether it’s a leisurely lunch, a romantic dinner or just a cocktail.
One Kensington’s concise but impressive menu has been created by executive chef Massimiliano Blasone, previously of Apsleys at The Lanesborough which was awarded its Michelin star after just five months.
The menu will include dishes such as beef tartare with rocket, pappa al pomodoro & Grana Padano; soft eggs, parmesan cream, prosciutto powder & amaranth; scallops with asparagus, papaya & grilled pumpkin; Scottish lamb rump with Taggiasca black olives & caponata and Araguani ganache, muscovado & orange.
A key focal point is the striking long bar, perfect for cocktails and more casual dining. The elevated John Tann champagne table has impressive views of the park towards Kensington Palace and pays tribute to the 19th century safe maker, one of whose creations was uncovered during the refurbishment.
One Kensington is splendidly housed in a Grade II listed, late Gothic revival Victorian building, constructed in 1885 for the London and County Bank.
The award-winning B3 Designers have put their own mark on the interiors, at the same time making full use of original architectural features such as the high carved vaulted ceilings, double height windows and expansive wood panelling.
The original technical structure and riveted metal details (reminiscent of other designs of the era such as the Eiffel Tower) are balanced by comfortable and vibrant turquoise leather upholstery to create a luxurious and elegant interior.
